So many things

Yup, I'm guilty - I haven't posted in *uh-hum* 3 months...

So much has changed in the last few weeks!

Another year passed and my wonderful husband and I have been married for another year :) wow I can't believe next year we'll be together for 10 years! He is my rock, love you my babe.

I am a firm believer that i have the worlds most adorable daughter - she is so full of hugs and kisses at the moment, and her little sayings, oh my hat - they are just too precious! "idwontnoow" with her little shoulders pulled up and her hands turned in, must be one of my favourites.
I never anticipated that one could love someone this much until I had her!
I included a pic of my little wonder taken in October this year.

o o o o I am now proud red head :D

The last few weeks have been a time for rekindled friendships - over years friends come and go, we all know this. It's always heartbreaking when you part ways with friends for whatever the reason, it could be because you outgrew each other, one of you moved away, you had a fall out or in many cases only because you simply lost touch not for any specific reason other than your life moved on and before you have a chance to look back 9 years have passed and with it, the friendships of that stage in your life.
These two past two week 3 of my 'old' friends made contact again; all three very dear friends that somehow we just lost contact. I had dinner with one of these friends on Saturday - I have to admit that I was a little nervous at first, worried that we are going to sit awkwardly making small talk. I am glad to report back that there was no awkward moments, it's like the last 5 years didnt happen, like we were still the best of friends. I have no doubt that now that the contact has been made again it will be here to stay :)
The other two are dinners/lunches waiting to happen - watch this space for an update!

Now my big news for this year: we are packing our lives into a truck and moving to Cape Town! this is something we have wanted to do for a VERY long time, we are extremely excited about it yet scared in a weird way - I suppose it's the unknown, all the people we love and know are down here, though it is a lifestyle change we desperately need.

Now that I have shared all the exciting things happening in my private life the next update will have to be on the very challenging stuff I have been up to for work in the last few weeks :)

As soon as I make ends meet, someone moves the ends.

sometimes I want to find a rock (a BIG one) and hide under it. Not for any specific reason, just all the little things that crawl up on you and then that last little bite in the calf makes everything seem like the world is tumbling down.

I've spent alot of time thinking, no, wondering, if there is more to life than what we currently have. Don't get me wrong, I am very thankful for all the blessings we have, there are many, many people alot worse off than us, but I can't help but wonder - is this is good as it gets?

The daily race - for what? to impress your boss? your colleagues? your friends? your partner? when do we actually get to live? When do we get to enjoy life's little joys - seeing the smile on your child's face when she/he swings, roll in the dry grass with them, to see that little face buried in the bowl to lick the last drop of the cheese sauce out. Is the 2 days over the weekends we allow ourselves to live a little what God intended for us?

Now I know the logical answer is no, because what we strive for is materialistic things, a house, a car, clothes, shoes, the best education for our kids; but in today's time and age can we afford not to have mommy and daddy working? In our case no. Not because we have to have that car, or that house or those shoes or clothes, but because we can't do without the basic needs. I never said it has to be a luxury car, or our own house, it's not nine west shoes or Diesel clothes, and yet ends meet still doesn't seem to be within reach.

How do other people do it and what am I missing??? I'm sure God intended for families to share more than a rushed 30 minutes a day together? there has to be more...

house hunting

cutting a long story sort: we love our house. it loves us. we wanted to buy it. we saw the price and nearly had a stroke. so we rented it a year ago, and quickly realised its not ideal for us after all.
1. floating stairs with a one year old - not ideal!
2. space, cramped, can't move, toys everywhere, study in bedroom... you get the picture! I f I had known our house was to turn into a giant toy box, I would never have considered this place!
3. Telkom STILL hasnt got a line in the complex 13 months after requesting one!
4. the rent is going up :(
5. they sold the house to someone else and can't say when we'd need to be out.

so, we have been looking for something to buy and call our own. it's not as easy at it seems! first you need to find something within your budget - problem 1! then you need to get a 100% bond - in todays time this makes it problem 2.

we have subsequently ran out of time, and with 2 weeks to go until we have to move out, I have to a) find us a new place to call home b) pack up the entire house and c) get a million projects for work done in between all of this.

no wonder my eye wont stop jumping!

The Women's show

We just finished dismantling the stand I designed for Longevity Magazine at the women's show - wow, what a hectic weekend! We were on our feet the WHOLE time - from when we set up Wednesday and Thursday until we left today. I believe it all went well - we reached our target in terms of sales and the stand looked pretty decent to my opinion. I have included a couple of pics of the stand (the first was the concept design and the rest the actual pics, so you can see how close we got to the design) I will post better quality pics when I manage to fownload them from the camera - these were taken by my phone.

the fruits of our labour

For those who know me knows I have been working on the SA Rugby Official Lion's Tour Guide; it has been incredibly hard work - especially the last 8 weeks.

I went to the Bok Town at Monte Casino this past weekend - and was it PACKED - it made my heart skip a beat or two to see the people reading the guide that our team made up of: Craig Ray, Solly Mokgehle; Kirsten Laurings; Charles Boffard, Ryan Manning and myself worked on. Well done to the editorial team especially!

I've been watching the competition we had in the guide; which included suite tickets to the final test in JHB; Fuji Camera's and Springbok jerseys, and they climbed over the weekend - it really is rewarding to see a project come together like that.

Here is a pic of the cover on the banner:
